Most “stomach flu” is due to an enterovirus that is not influenza, though some patients with influenza (the true “flu”) do also have diarrhea.
The best ways to prevent viral infections are thorough hand washing with soap and water and using disposable towels to dry your hands.
Avoid being around sick people and avoid touching your face, nose, and mouth unless you have just washed and dried your hands.
Staying generally healthy with good nutrition, good hydration, and regular exercise will help if you do get sick, but won’t prevent it!
